Introduction of Dicyandiamide
Dicyandiamide (C2H4N4) is an organic compound also known as a dimer in nylon manufacturing. It consists of two cyanoimine groups, each containing a nitrogen atom and a carbon atom. Dicyandiamide is a solid, colorless, odorless, and soluble in water and common organic solvents.
Dicyandiamide has a high melting point and thermal stability, and can be used to prepare high-performance nanofibers and polymeric materials. It is often used in the textile industry as a raw material for the synthesis of nylon, where Polymers are formed by reacting with another compound, amylenediamine. Nylon is a synthetic fiber with uniform structure, high strength and durability, and is widely used in textiles, plastics and rubber.
In addition, dicyanodiamine can be used to prepare other organic compounds such as pesticides, dyes and drugs. It also possesses the property of catalyst, and can be used as oxidizing agent, combustion catalyst and nitrogen removal agent in the chemical industry.

White rhombic crystalline powder, non-combustible. Relative density 1.400, melting point 207~209℃. Slightly soluble in water and ethanol, insoluble in ether and benzene. Dry dicyandiamide is stable in nature.
Uses of Dicyandiamide
Dicyandiamide, also known as DICY (Dicyandiamide), is a non-toxic, odorless, white crystalline substance. It has a wide range of applications in the chemical industry.
First, in the field of synthetic resins, DICY is used as an epoxy resin curing agent. When mixed with epoxy resins, dicyandiamide is able to trigger a curing reaction that causes the resin to form a strong 3D network structure, thus enhancing its mechanical properties, heat resistance and chemical stability. It is widely used in the fields of coatings, adhesives and composites.
Secondly, dicyandiamide can also be used as an Additive for nitrogen fertilizers and nitrogen-containing conditioners. When added to farmland as a nitrogen fertilizer, dicyandiamide can provide the nitrogen needed by plants and has a slow-release nitrogen effect, helping to improve crop yield and quality. In addition, in the livestock industry, dicyandiamide can be used as a synthetic precursor to thiazinyl urea in dairy products.
