What are Petrochemicals
Petrochemicals refer to the manufactured products of the petrochemical industry that use petroleum or natural gas as raw materials for the manufacture of chemicals, which are also known as petrochemical products. Petroleum through a variety of processes, can be made of gasoline, kerosene, diesel, lubricants, paraffin, asphalt, petroleum coke, liquefied petroleum products such as gasoline, and can be plastics, synthetic fibers, synthetic rubber, synthetic detergents, fertilizers, pesticides and other chemical products to provide a wealth of raw materials.
Petrochemicals are obtained by further chemical processing of feedstock oil provided by the refining process. The first step in the production of petrochemicals is the cracking of raw oil and gas (such as propane, gasoline, diesel, etc.) to produce basic chemical materials represented by ethylene, propylene, butadiene, benzene, toluene, xylene. The second step is to produce a variety of organic chemicals (about 200 kinds) and synthetic materials (synthetic resins, synthetic fibers, synthetic rubber) from the basic chemical raw materials.
