Product Information Properties of Thiourea Dioxide
It is white odorless crystal powder, a stable compound with neither oxidizing nor reducing property. The melting point is about 126℃, but when it is heated to more than 100℃, it decomposes slowly, and at 110℃, it decomposes to S02, and when it is heated further, it decomposes to urea and sulfurous acid. at 20℃, the solubility in 1L water is 26.7g, and it can decompose to urea and sulfurous acid sodium under the action of alkali.
Method of Thiourea Dioxide
It is made from thiourea and hydrogen peroxide. Distilled water, thiourea added to the stainless steel reaction tank, under stirring at 8 ~ 10 ℃ dropwise addition of hydrogen peroxide, so that the oxidation of thiourea. pH control at 2 ~ 3, to be the temperature drops to about 5 ℃ that is, thiourea dioxide crystallization of crude products. Then the material is dried by centrifugation and cyclone drying to obtain this product. In addition, this product can be made from ozone and thiourea as raw materials or calcium cyanamide, ammonium sulfide and hydrogen peroxide as raw materials.
Uses of Thiourea Dioxide
This product is one of the most important Intermediates of nitrogen compounds in organic and inorganic chemicals, originated in the fiber industry, and has been used since the early days, and is also used in the chemical industry, film industry and so on. Thiourea dioxide is a stable compound, the use of the same as other reducing agents, no danger, and sulfide odor is very little, the operating environment and health are very safe. With high stability, it can be used as reducing agent in printing and dyeing industry to replace insurance powder. Used in acrylonitrile polymerization process, it can improve the tensile strength of polyacrylonitrile fiber and its color. It can also be used as pulp bleaching agent, sensitizer for photographic film emulsion, chemical reagent for separating rare metals rhodium and iridium, and stabilizer for reinforcing Polyethylene. It is also widely used in the production of fine chemicals such as dyestuffs, pharmaceuticals and spices.
