Dipropylene glycol methyl ether is one of the Ether Compounds.Dipropylene glycol methyl ether is an organic substance with the molecular formula C7H16O3. colorless viscous liquid with a pleasant odor. It is miscible with water and many organic solvents. It is produced by hydration of 1,2-epoxypropane to produce dipropylene glycol monohydrate, and then with the action of methanol. Mainly used as a solvent for paints and dyes, also a component of brake fluid.

Properties: colorless transparent liquid, with weak ether odor. Low toxicity; low viscosity; low surface tension; moderate evaporation rate; good solvency and coupling ability.
Solubility: miscible with water, appropriate HLB value. Soluble in grease, natural resins and rubber, cellulose, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl acetal, alkyd resins, phenolic resins, urea resins and other polymer chemicals.
