Application of Polyacrylamide in petroleum industry:

As a multifunctional Additive in China, Polyacrylicamide is used as a thickener, stabiliser and settling Flocculant of drilling fluid in drilling process, and is used to improve the rheological property of drilling fluid; to improve the size of suspended particles, to increase the suspension force, and to accelerate the filtration and separation of crude oil. It is used as soil structure forming agent to improve the impact resistance of well wall surface; and to make the drilling fluid, which is not easy to be dispersed, obtain efficient separation effect when drilling through the opening layer. Make partially hydrolysed homopolyacrylamide and formaldehyde, glyoxal and other hydroxymethylation reaction and generate side chain containing methyl products, in crude oil production to obtain satisfactory results.

The application of Polyacrylamide in the three oil recovery

The properties possessed by PAM's thickening, flocculation and fluidity regulation of fluids make it play an important role in oil extraction. It is widely used in drilling, water plugging, acidised water, fracturing, well washing, well completion, drag reduction, scale prevention and oil repulsion. In general, PAM is used to increase the rate of oil recovery. In particular, many oil fields have entered the second and third exploitation, the depth of the reservoir is generally more than 1000, some reservoir depth of 7000 strata of non-homogeneous and offshore oil fields to the oil recovery operations put forward more demanding conditions, deep oil recovery and offshore oil recovery accordingly also put forward new requirements for Polyacrylamide, the requirements of which is resistant to shear, high temperature (100 ℃ above up to 200 ℃), resistant to 2 +, 2 + ions and seawater degradation.
In the three adopted methods to improve oil recovery, the use of Polyacrylicamide as an oil repellent occupies an important position. The role of the polymer is to regulate the rheology of the injected water, increase the viscosity of the driving fluid, improve the efficiency of the water drive wave and reduce the permeability of the water phase in the formation, so that the water and oil can flow forward at a uniform speed. When using micelles and Polymers to drive oil, the surfactant and additives are first formulated into a microemulsion with ultra-low interfacial tension and injected into the well, then the polymer solution, and finally the water. The water is plunger flow forward, replacing the residual oil dispersed in the voids and improving the recovery rate of crude oil. The Polyacrylamide used for tertiary oil recovery is generally 10-50% in concentration and has a relative molecular mass of several hundred thousand to more than ten million.
