Product properties of low density Polyethylene
Low-density polyethylene is milky-white beaded particles. It is non-toxic, tasteless, odorless and has no luster on the surface. Density is 0.916~0.930g/cm³. It is soft in nature, with good extensibility, electric insulation, chemical stability, processing performance and low temperature resistance (can withstand -70℃), but the mechanical strength, moisture barrier, gas barrier and solvent resistance are poor. The molecular structure is not regular enough, the crystallinity is low (55%~65%), and the melting point of crystallization (108~126℃) is also low.
Low temperature LDPE naturally has good toughness, low brittle precipitation temperature, and high molecular weight.The molecular weight of LDPE increases, the temperature decreases, and the value of molecular weight is -140C.When the molecular weight is the same, the melt viscosity of LLDPE and HDPE with linear structure is larger than that of LDPE with non-linear structure. In the case of the same melt index, the melt viscosity of LDPE is obviously lower than that of LLDPE and HDPE, and the melt fluidity of the former is obviously better than that of the latter two, the screw load is small, and the heat generation is small.
Main uses of low density polyethylene products
LDPE is mainly used as a film product and is suitable for making films, heavy packaging films, cable insulation materials, blow molding and foaming products. Such as agricultural film, ground cover film, agricultural film, greenhouse film, etc.; packaging film such as candy, vegetables, frozen food packaging; liquid packaging blow molded film (milk, soy sauce, juice, tofu, soy milk); heavy bags, shrink wrap film, elastic film, liner film; construction film, general industrial packaging film and food bags, etc..
LDPE is also used for injection molded products, such as small containers, lids, daily-use products, plastic flowers, injection molding a stretch a blow molded containers, medical appliances, pharmaceuticals and food packaging materials. Rotational molding rotomolded products are mainly used for large containers and tanks.
Production Methods for Low Density Polyethylene Products
Low density polyethylene is also known as high pressure polyethylene. It can be divided into kettle method and tube method according to the type of reactor. Ethylene is used as raw material, which is added to the reactor, compressed under high pressure and polymerization reaction is carried out under the action of initiator. The material from the reactor is removed from the unreacted ethylene by a separator, then granulated, dried and doped by melting and extrusion, and then sent for packaging.
Packaging and storage and transportation of LDPE products
The products are packed in polyethylene heavy-duty film bags, or polypropylene woven bags as outer packaging according to the needs of users. The product should be stored in a clean and dry warehouse, and can be transported by train, car or ship. During storage and transportation, attention should be paid to fire, water, sun, dust and pollution prevention. Transportation tools should be kept clean and dry, no nails and other sharp objects, and need to have a shed or canopy.
