Introduction to Thermoplastic Polyester Elastomer
Thermoplastic Polyester Elastomer (TPEE), also known as polyester rubbers, are linear block copolymers containing a hard segment of PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) polyester and a soft segment of an aliphatic polyester or polyether. combining the excellent elasticity of rubber with the ease of processing of thermoplastic plastics, and with adjustable softness and hardness and freedom of design, TPEEs are a new and highly sought-after type of thermoplastic elastomer.
A brief history of the development of thermoplastic polyester elastomers
In 1972, DuPont (USA) and Toyobo (Japan) were the first to develop TPEE under the trade names of Hytrel and Pelprene, followed by Hochest-Celanese, GE, Eastman, AKZO (DSM), and other major companies in the world who developed various grades of TPEE under the trade names of Ritefex, Lomodex, and Pelprene. Ritefex, Lomod, Ecdel and Arnitc. domestic TPEE, but also developed its own brand, Wuhan Southeast Xiangtai company developed the Nantai brand TPEE, in the country also received considerable praise.
